Mathematics

At Manor Primary we want all children to develop into confident and competent mathematical thinkers and to be able to apply their mathematical knowledge in a range of situations. Our ‘mastery’ Mathematics curriculum is designed with the intent that each child, from EYFS to year 6, will become fluent, confident and competent in the fundamentals of mathematics, developing their ability to calculate, to reason and to solve problems through the learning of mental and formal written strategies. These skills are then applied to increasingly complex problems on the journey towards mastering mathematics.
In addition to daily Maths lessons, we ensure Mathematics is embedded across our curriculum so that our children develop as confident mathematicians and can use their mathematical skills in a range of real life contexts.

Mathematics is a core subject in the National Curriculum and at Manor our ‘mastery’ scheme of work for Mathematics follows the DFE Mathematics National Curriculum Programmes of study.

All of our teaching and learning is designed to create a sense of awe and wonder for children, and is based on the teaching programme in the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage Guidance.
